Certification study involved more about error handling today. I kept fighting with it because I couldn’t get the exception to display using Expression Language (EL). Turns out that EL doesn’t have access to the exception object if you only use the error page mapping in the web.xml. It does work if you declare an error page in your JSP. I don’t know if this is a Tomcat 5.0 problem or a J2EE. I also demonstrated the “catch” tag. TestSeven.jsp and TestEight.jsp demonstrate the aformentioned and the code can be found CVS.
I flipped through the Ruby book cruising for some interesting topics. I also wrote the Chrisclient.rb script which can connect to the Chrisserver.rb. I haven’t decided whether to continue developing client servers or to move on to something else.
