Expression Language (EL) didn’t turn out to be too bad. I would say it is fairly handy implementation of the concept. In the past I have confused EL with tag libraries. Though the arguments against me would still be valid for tag libraries. The concept of EL could be done using scriptlets but wouldn’t be enforceable. EL is also somewhat cleaner than the syntax would be using scriptlets. So far EL syntax seems to be simple enough to learn as well.

My foray into Ruby went well today. I wrote two scripts. One testing variable scope and blocks. The other testing the “throw … catch” of Ruby. In addition to those subjects I read about Ruby exceptions.

Music by way of the guitar continues. More boring repetitive practice with the six chords I’ve learned so far. The book I’m using was really intended for an electric guitar and I have an acoustic. Rumor says there is another guitar book somewhere in the basement and hopefully it will be available for tommorrows practice.

Writing today consists of the edited content you just read:)
