Created: 17 March 2011  Modified:

If you need a map with a forest canopy you can use the following steps in Inkscape.

  1. Draw the outline of your forest area.
  2. Make a copy of the outline.
  3. Fill the original with black and place it in position.
  4. Fill the copy with green and make the stroke color a very dark green.
  5. Apply Filters -> Scatter -> Leaves to the green copy.
  6. Apply Filters -> Textures -> Rough Pager to the green copy.
  7. Place the green copy into position over top the original.
